How do I get access to e-mail?
E-mail is one benefit of having an account on the RBVI host machine. The cgl address also corresponds to your sequence analysis account name if your PI has a SACS group account. When you have a SACS account, your e-mail address is:
The initials cgl stand for Computer Graphics Lab, the lab which manages the e-mail and maintains the forwarding list. While active, this cgl account will allow you to access three different e-mail programs: alpine, mail and mutt. It is also possible to set up a number of remote e-mail clients to remotely check e-mail in your cgl account.
When a cgl account is discontinued, permanent e-mail forwarding can be established.
UCSF also provides e-mail access through mail@UCSF .
